Private Lable Rights (PLR) digital products are a great option for anyone looking to start an online business.

These pre-made products help you save time and effort compared to self-made digital products. They are especially suited for someone who does not know what digital product to create or how to create one.

In this post I will explain thoroughly what PLR digital products are, how they work and how you can start reselling them to make money.

What does PLR stand for?

PLR is a short form for Private Label Rights. This term refers to a license that allows buyer to modify and rebrand the product – and sell it as their own. On top of this, you can also resell the PLR rights to your own customers.

Most common products with PLR are different kind of digital products, such as courses, guides and templates. But keep in mind – if it’s not specifically stated in the product terms & conditions that it comes with Private Label Rights, you are usually not allowed to modify and rebrand the products.

PLR is not the only type of license that can be associated with digital products. Another popular license type is Master Resell Rights (MRR) which usually only allows you to resell the product and the resale rights – but does not give buyer the right to modify the product.

What is a PLR product?

A PLR product is a digital product that comes with a Private Label Rights license. Lots of different kind of products can have PLR attached. They can for example be courses, videos, photos or eBooks.

The main advantage of PLR products is that you don’t need to start creating your own product from zero. You have a ready-made digital product that you can use as a foundation and customize it as you wish. This can save a lot of time and effort. Some of the most popular PLR products are:

  • eBooks: These are often how-to guides or other types of guides.
  • Videos & photos: You can often see stock videos & photos sold with PLR. You can use these photos and videos in your own content as well as modify them however you wish and then resell them.
  • Templates: PLR templates can be anything from social media templates, such as Instagram story templates, to mock up templates.
  • Courses: Sometimes even courses come with Private Label Rights allowing you to edit the course and resell it as your own.

What is PLR content?

The term PLR content means any kind of content that comes with Private Label Rights. If content has Private Label Rights that means once you purchase it you can:

  • Edit: You can change the content however you want. You can take parts out, add new content or edit existing content.
  • Rebrand: You can add your own branding elements such as your logo and company name.
  • Repurpose: You can transform the content into different format. For example you can turn eBook into an audio course.
  • Sell: You can resell the modified content as your own. Usually you can also resell the Private Label Rights to your own customers.

How to sell PLR products?

Starting to sell PLR products is a pretty simple process. It usually takes much less time than creating your own product to sell from a scratch. Here is how you can start selling digital products with Private Label Rights:

1. Choose a Niche

First you need to choose a niche for your business. You should not try to offer something for everyone – because when trying to do this, you often end up appealing to no one.

Health, fitness, wealth and personal development are some popular niches. However, most important is to choose a niche you are passionate or knowledgeable about.

2. Find PLR Products

Next you need to find PLR digital products to edit and resell. You can find these products being sold on many different websites.

Etsy is one popular source for digital products with PLR. However, you can also find lots of smaller stores selling Private Label Rights products. I have some products with Private Label Rights in my store as well (such as The Digital Marketing Starter Guide). Click here to access my store.

3. Edit & Rebrand the Product

When product has Private Label Rights attached, you can usually edit it however you wish and even add your own branding. In fact, often the terms of the product even require you to change at least the cover and the name of the products.

Editing and rebranding the product is a good way to differentiate your product from other similar ones. So I definitely do recommend changing some parts of a PLR product even when it’s not required.

4. Set Up Your Store

Once you have your product or maybe even multiple products ready, it is time to set up your store. Popular options for selling digital products are Etsy, Stan Store, Beacons.ai, Shopify and Systeme.io. You can find lots of other options as well if you just search for them in Google.

My personal favorite is the Stan Store. It is easy to set up and looks great as well. *Click here to get 14 day free trial to Stan Store.

5. Promote Your Product

It is not enough to just set up your store – you need to drive traffic there as well. Otherwise no one will find your store.

Different social media channels are popular places to promote digital products. You can try for example Instagram, TikTok, Threads and Facebook. Other ways to get traffic to your site are paid advertisements, search engine optimization (SEO) and Pinterest.

If you decide to start promoting on Instagram for example, you can start creating reels and stories highlighting the benefits of your product and the transformation it can offer. Then link to your product on your Instagram bio as well as on your stories.

I can recommend using Instagram as most of my store traffic currently comes from there! But of course the channel you should choose also depends on your target audience and on where they tend to hang out.

Conclusion

PLR digital products are an amazing option for anyone looking to start or expand their online business. When using Private Label Rights products you do not need to create digital products from scratch which can save a lot of time and effort. However, you will still be able to offer unique products as these products are highly customizable.

Even though I have told in this article what Private Label Rights license usually gives to the buyer, I want to remind you that it is always important to check each individual products terms and conditions.

10 Digital Product Ideas

Whether you’re still just planning your digital products business or looking fresh ideas to expand your current offerings, it can be hard to find the perfect products to sell. To help you with this, I’ve put together a list of 10 profitable digital product ideas. So, let’s dive into these ideas and discover how you can turn your expertise into a successful online business idea!

1. Ebooks

Ebooks are one of the most popular digital products, and for good reason. They are easy to create and there’s a strong interest in them. Of course, the demand depends on the niche and the type of ebook you decide to go for.

There are so many different kinds of ebooks you can create: factual or fictional, covering almost endless possible topics. If you are expert in a particular area, you can create a how-to guide. Or, if you’re a skilled storyteller, why not write a collection of short stories in an ebook format?

To give you a concrete example: I sell an ebook that teaches how to start a business selling digital products using Stan Store and Instagram. You can check out my Digital Marketing Beginners Guide here.

2. Online Courses

Online courses are also in high demand at the moment. Who wouldn’t want to learn hundreds of different skills from the comfort of their own home – and often affordably too?

Just like with ebooks, you can create online courses on almost any topic. Whether you excel at yoga, cooking, coding, or marketing, you can develop a course on it. There are many platforms where you can create and sell courses, such as Udemy, Teachable, and Skool.

3. Social Media Templates

Many people prefer to save time by buying ready-made social media templates instead of creating everything from scratch. You can create templates for Instagram stories, highlights, carousels, reels, or other social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook.

4. Mockup Templates

Business owners often need high-quality mockups to showcase their work. If you’re creative, making and selling mockup templates can be a great way to earn money online. You can create mockup templates for digital products like ebooks and courses, as well as physical products like t-shirts and mugs.

5. Coloring Pages

Downloadable digital coloring pages are surprisingly popular – and they’re not just for kids anymore! Adults are increasingly turning to coloring for relaxation and stress relief. If you’re artistic, why not turn your designs into coloring pages?

You can sell them in digital format and people can decide themselves if they want to print these designs and color them by hand or use an app to color them.

6. Stock Photos and Videos

If you’re good with a camera, selling stock photos and videos can be a great option. There is high interest for quality images and videos in different niches, such as travel, lifestyle, and business.

You can sell your photos and videos on stock photo websites, set up your own shop, or create a subscription-based service where customers regularly receive fresh content.

7. Digital Art

For artistic people, digital art offers many opportunities. If you enjoy painting, drawing, or creating digital illustrations, you can sell your art in a digital format. This allows customers to use your designs for various purposes, whether in digital products or physical items.

8. Recipes

For those enthusiastic about cooking, selling recipes online is an option. You can compile your recipes into an ebook, create meal plans, or sell individual recipes. Even if you sell a recipe for a few dollars, with enough sales, you can generate significant income.

9. Planners

Planners that help people stay organized are always in need. These can be printable planners or digital planners for tablets, phones, and laptops.

Popular planner options include fitness trackers, meal planners, and budget sheets – but your imagination is the only limit! Or, instead of sticking with these common choices, you could try to identify a unique problem that your planner could solve. Developing a specialized planner that addresses a specific need can be a lucrative opportunity!

10. Website Themes

If you have experience in web design (or are willing to learn!), you can create and sell website themes for platforms like Shopify, Squarespace, and WordPress. High-quality, customizable themes are consistently sought after and can provide a steady stream of online income.

Additionally, by staying updated with design trends and platform updates, you can offer fresh, innovative themes that attract clients. This helps you both build a strong reputation in the web design community and ensure that your products remain relevant and in demand.

The Bottom Line

There you have it – ten digital product ideas for you to create and start selling! The digital product world is full of opportunities, so pick something that aligns with your skills and passions, and start creating.

Remember, just like with any business, the key to success with digital products is providing value to your audience and continuously improving your offerings.

What is Master Resell Rights?

Some of the links in this article are affiliate links (marked with *), which means we may receive a commission, at no additional cost to you, if you decide to make a purchase through one of the partners recommended by us. We only recommend products and services we trust and believe will be beneficial t our readers. This helps us support our efforts in bringing you valuable content. Thank you for your support!

If you are diving into the world of digital products, you may have stumbled on the term Master Resell Rights (MRR). So, what does it exactly mean?

Simply put, Master Resell Rights means that if you buy a product with these rights attached, you not only get to use the product but you can also resell it to others. And what is even better – you can also sell your customers these same resell rights! So your customers can also resell the product as well as the resell rights.

Some of the most common products with Master Resell Rights included are different kinds of eBooks and courses. If an eBook example has MRR attached, you can first read the book yourself and learn everything inside it. After this, you can resell the eBook as many times as you want for 100 % profit!

Master Resell Rights Explained

Master Resell Rights is a legal clause attached to a product that grants the purchaser rights to:

  1. Resell the product
  2. Resell the resell rights

So when you purchase a product with MRR attached, you get done-for-you product that you can resell as it is. You do not need to make any modifications to the product before selling it – and often the MRR terms of the products even prohibit modifying the product.

It is always important to read the terms & conditions attached to each individual product. There might be for example rules related to minimum resell price or bundling with other products. And other MRR products allow modifying the product while others strictly prohibit it.

Most commonly Master Resell Rights are attached to different kinds of digital products such as eBooks, courses and templates. Remember – if it’s not explicitly specified that a product comes with resell rights, you are not usually allowed to resell it.

How to Make Money with Master Resell Rights?

Now that you know what Master Resell Rights means – let’s get into the topic you are probably most interested in: how to make money with it. Here are the steps to get you started with selling MRR products:

  1. Find the Right Products: Look for high-quality digital products and make sure there is demand for these products as well. The products could be for example eBooks, courses or templates or even software. You can find digital products to sell on Etsy, in my store or by Googling your niche + “digital products”.
  2. Set Up Your Store: You need some kind of platform for selling your products. There are lots of different options: Stan Store, Beacons, Systeme.io, Etsy, Shopify… My current favorite is Stan Store because it is easy to use and offers lots of different functionalities to boost your sales such as email marketing, landing pages and order bumps. *Get started with Stan Store 14 day free trial here.
  3. List Your Products & Create Compelling Sales Pages: Once you have opened your store, you need to list your products there and create compelling sales pages. It is worth it to invest time in crafting persuasive sales pages that really highlight the benefits of your produc.
  4. Drive Traffic: It is unlikely for customers to find your store if you are not driving any traffic there. You can do this for example through social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads), Pinterest, search engine optimization and email marketing. The goal is to get potential customer to click to your offers and eventually purchase the products.

That is the process of selling digital products in a nutshell. Of course, if you wish to boost your sales, you would also want to offer bonuses & limited time offers and follow up on customers who purchased some of your products or signed up to your email list. You can learn all of these skills and more on digital marketing courses that you can find on multiple different platforms such as Coursera and Udemy.

I also offer a comprehensive digital marketing course in my store called the Ultimate Branding Course. This course even comes with Master Resell Rights meaning that after you learn everything inside the course, you can sell it for 100 % profit!

Master Resell Rights vs. Private Label Rights

Another term you often see associated with digital products in addition to Master Resell Rights (MRR) is Private Label Rights (PLR). What is the difference between two of these?

Master Resell Rights (MRR)

If product has Master Resell Rights, you are allowed to resell the product and grant your buyers the same reselling rights. Usually products with Master Resell Rights must be sold as is and cannot be modified. They do not allow same level of customization as Private Label Rights Products.

Private Label Rights (PLR)

Private Label Rights gives you the same rights as Master Resell Rights (right to resell the product & the resell rights). However, in addition to this you get the right to modify and rebrand the product. You can usually even create a completely new product using the PLR product you purchased as a base. For example, if you bought a eBook with Private Label Rights, you could create an audio course using the information from this eBook.

It is important to remember however that each seller might have their own terms and conditions both for Master Resell Rights and Private Label Rights products. There might for example be a minimum resale price for the product. I encourage you to always read through each individual products terms and conditions instead of just assuming that you can do whatever you wish with a PLR product for example.

Digital Products with Master Resell Rights

There are a lot of different kind of products available with Master Resell Rights. Most common ones include eBooks, audio courses, video courses, stock photos & videos and different kind of templates. Templates can be for example Instagram story templates, Pinterest pin templates or even wedding invitation templates. In fact, you can probably find pretty much any kind of digital product you can think of sold with Master Resell Rights.

I personally sell eBooks and courses with Master Resell Rights. More specifically, I sell guides and courses focused on digital marketing and how to start a digital product business. Some of my products with Master Resell Rights include:

But as I mentioned, these are just some examples. You can find a loads of different kinds of products with Master Resell Rights being sold online. Whatever your niche, be it health & fitness, beauty, parenting, or something completely else, you can for sure find MRR products related to your niche.

Is Master Resell Rights Legit?

“Is Master Resell Rights a legit business model?” is a question on many peoples minds when they first hear about this business model. Because, let’s face it, it might sound too good to be true.

However, selling products with Master Resell Rights is a legitimate business model. Think about this: you can resell physical products, so why not digital products as well?

When you buy a Master Resell Rights from a trusted source, there are no hidden fees or anything of the sort. You pay for the product once and after this you can resell the product as many times as you wish and keep 100 % of the profit.

In this business model the person you bought the product from does not get any share of your sales. This fact completely debunks the fairly common myth that Master Resell Rights would be a pyramid scheme.

It is understandable that there are always some suspicions when new business models start becoming popular.
